Frequently Asked Questions ?

How many lessons are required to learn driving and obtain licence ?

There are no specific number of lessons or hours of practice that can guarantee the learner driver to learn driving or obtain licence. All students learn at their own individual pace. The more the learner practices with driving instructor the learner will learn quickly and properly. There is a minimum of 120 hours that new students must undertake and record in a log book. This is mandatory for new students under 21 years of age and who have received their learner’s permit after 1 july 2007.

Is it necessary to learn driving with driving instructors and with other experience drivers ?

Driving with a driving instructor will give you the necessary knowledge and skills needed to attain your Victorian licence. Driving instructors are trained and have the updated knowledge of road rules. But friends and family members who train you might not be aware of of the latest rules and changes. And more over they would have developed some wrong habits of driving without their knowledge like not checking mirrors frequently. So it is better to learn the basics of driving with driving instructor and then can practice more with family members and friends who have experience in driving. The more you practice the quicker you will learn and gain confidence on the roads.

How long are the driving lessons ?

We provide driving lessons for 45 minutes, 60 minutes and 90 minutes slots which starts and ends at mutually agreed place (usually at the students home, work, school or agreed place).

we have seen 45 minutes lesson is too restrictive. And 60 minutes lesson is quiet good for total beginners to learn in the quiet back streets. In 90 minutes lesson the students learn faster and the driving instructor also have time to take the student to little longer place or different suburbs to show more critical places where the learner can learn faster.

Normally as a beginner everyone will be nervous and excitement. Once the lesson starts the learner will not be in a position to concentrate or learn immediately it will take atleast 10 to 15 minutes for them to settle down and start learning. So 45 minutes and 60 minutes lesson will be too restrictive.

But in 90 minutes lessons even if the learner is nervous or having excitement for first 15 minutes the next 75 minutes the student will be able to concentrate and learn faster. Simultaneously driving instructor also have time to take the student to travel little far places and show the student more critical places and more scenarios where the student can learn faster and develop their driving skills faster.

Practically we have seen students learn faster when they come for 90 minutes lesson package.

Should i learn in Automatic or Manual car ?

It is upto your decision and situation. But it is easier to learn in an automatic car. Because there is no clutch and gears to worry about. It means you will most likely require fewer lessons.

However if you obtain an automatic vehicle licence, you will not be licensed to drive a manual car while holding your probationary licence. In automatic cars you can obtain your driving licence easily. Gain confidence in automatic cars and then go for your manual licence later on.
